CeraVe AM Facial Moisturising Lotion SPF50
£17 / 52ml
Summer also means it’s worth reevaluating your moisturiser. While an SPF is well-worth using all year around, the sunnier months call for additional protection. CeraVe, ever the best value skincare solution on the market, have a nourishing every day moisturiser which includes SPF50. The product is lightweight and works well for all skin types, thanks to using the likes of Niacinamide (a favourite ingredient of ours) within the formulation. A true summer saviour.
Anforh Aire
£68 / 30ml
Our desire for a seaside breeze is strong at this time of year, and this sensation always evokes “Aire”. From the Scots word describing a gravel-shored coastal edge where land meets sea. It’s the lightest, most energising Anforh fragrance inspired by the north-east coast of Scotland, with a citrussy-woody scent that is a great companion for cutting through humidity. Think of it as the the citrus twist in your martini. The 30ml is ideal for travel, with an EDP strength that lasts on the skin, taking you through the day with reassuring and confidence.
SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Antioxidant Vitamin C Serum
£169 / 30ml
The ultimate boost to a summer skincare routine is vitamin C. The benefits include brightening your complexion and improving texture, but you’ll also find it also helps SPF to be effective when used in combination. While on the pricier side, it’s become a firm favourite of the MFH team for brightening and evening skin texture. A bottle will last you 3-4 months as you only need to use four drops a day. Vitamin C is good for the vast majority of skin types, too.
Sunspel Riviera Polo
£91
A crisp new polo shirt done up to the second-top button to change into for the first evening of the holiday. A trusted still-vibrant polo shirt for the warmest office day of the year so far, buttoned-up. A well-fitted polo shirt that has washed itself well over the years and looks natural on the tennis court with a nice big sweat mark on the chest around all the undone buttons. There are so few situations where the answer isn’t a polo shirt, and there are no polo shirts that answer the call like a Sunspel Riviera. They’re currently on sale, with the good variety of sale colours conveniently labelled for your perusal, it’s the ideal time to refresh your favourite summer garment.
New Balance 9060R
£160
The sneaker that subtly became a point of difference for the style-conscious this year is the New Balance 9060. Celebrities such as François Arnaud and Margot Robbie have cottoned onto the model, but the “R” variant (as ever, with New Balance) is the remastered, refined, lesser-known silhouette that will get you knowing nods of approval. This white, black patent leather and matte colourway is a versatile classic that will only age well.
Grenson’s Franklin Loafer
£177 (was £295)
For occasions where a trainer will not suffice, the loafer is and will always be, the greatest shoe. Trends come and go, but the loafer is forever. We feel that Grenson offers the best quality to value around right now. The “FRANKLIN” model, is a contemporary horse-bit loafer designed for SS26, and it is currently on sale for 40% of the RRP, bringing it comfortably under £200. They’ve been around since 1866, so know a thing or two about making a good shoe, and are always worth considering if you’re due a fresh loafer to hit wedding season with.
Tom Ford fragrance Eau De Grey Vetiver
£95 / 50ml
Did you really think we’d gatekeep a new Tom Ford Fragrance? Of course not. This is the classic scent given a modern, citrussy refresh. Lightweight and breathable like the grey suit the bottle evokes, the slightly green, woody, and spicy classic from 2009 is still present, but a pop of grapefruit and bergamot have been amped up, and in doing so, the mossy notes have brightened into a sort of sage. It’s the classic you know, at a Mediterranean wedding.
New M&S Studio Fragrance Collection
£12 for 8 x 2ml
Discovery sets are having a moment, we are in an era of sampling a variety of different scents, opening up a wider olfactory world, picking the fragrances that suit our mood on a particular day, from perfumeries we trust. The sample sizes allow us to do this with highly accessible price points and without the bathroom cupboards overflowing. This shift in consumption has become such a mainstay that M&S is also offering a discovery set of its widely enjoyed genderless M&S Studio collection, containing a sample of each of the eight fragrances that have been designed to date, at a super reasonable £12. Just don’t forget the obligatory bag of Percy Pigs.
Braun Series 9+ Pro
£479.99
The Series 9+ Pro electric shaver feels like the most complete shaving experience imaginable. Even the safety razor purists on the team have found themselves “going electric” as a result of this model. The build is premium, the quality and quantity of accessories included offer everything you could ever think to need, for a variety of facial hair styles, whether you shave wet or dry, frequently or simply when you feel like you probably should. The powerpack is very useful for weekend trips, the stacked technical features mean it is a highly intuitive shaver, doing most of the work for you. Electric shavers are sometimes a world where the latest product offers very small incremental gains at elevated prices, but the Series 9+ Pro feels like it’ll be a top-tier experience for years to come. Though the Series 7 which is now at a fraction of the RRP in many places, holds up perfectly well if you’ve not upgraded in a long time also.
Oura Ring 5
£399
Wearale tech is almost entirely a little bit ugly. Designed to look like, well, wearable tech. Stuck in the design codes of 1980s science-fiction. That’s why the Oura first caught our eye. It is designed to be fairly inconspicuous – it looks like a ring first and foremost. The Oura Ring 5 is the sleekest of the bunch, it’s thinner, smaller, and the finishes are much more akin to a fashion choice than a wellness compromise. The technological advances are also at their peak, with more than 50 health metrics, you will have plenty of intel you need to understand your wellness needs.
Ninja AutoBarista
£829.99
Believe it or not, we are in peak espresso machine season. Iced americanos at home? An affogato as a wonderful weekend brunch dessert? Need a few more espressos to deal with the lack of sleep? Counter-intuitive but also, yes please. The AutoBarista can take care of all of this, as well as cold brews, cold foam, essentially everything a barista can do has been made a feature of this machine to use at home. It also has an auto-grind setting to dial your coffee in for you, if playing around with ratios is too much of a sweat. Yes it’s big, yes it’s expensive, but it really seems like the most complete coffee solution on the market. And you deserve that.
L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil
£24 / 250ml
When we truly think about it, the real pleasures of life are those small daily rituals that we make into a little luxury occasion. L’Occitane’s Almond Shower Oil is one of the best ways to make such a daily moment. The oil formulation feels rich and highly moisturising compared with gels or soaps, but still provides a non-greasy and satisfying clean feeling. The deliciously sweet almond scent is near intoxicating, truly transforming a post-exercise shower into something of a spa day.
Aesop’s Resurrection Rinse Free Hand Mist
£13 / 50ml
A true companion to help keep the day feeling fresh, glamorous, and (quite literally) in-hand. Every bag, every travel case, every office drawer, should have one of these waiting to spritz a moment of serenity into the day. The mist in particular, offers that delicate and fuss-free dew that quickly absorbs and lets you get on with your day. Blobs of slippery gel do not come close. There’s aloe vera in the formulation too, which does wonders to help your skin from drying out. Essential.
Hibi 10-minutes Incense Matches
£11.99 / 8 sticks
Good incense is always needed, and these incense matches from Japanese lifestyle brand Hibi are a revelation. Elegantly packaged, they are designed to be quick and effective in bringing a moment of calm (or just a lovely fresh burst of fragrance to your day). The design is an ingenious collaboration between a traditional incense maker and a match-maker; the incense stick is tipped with a match head, and can be struck on the side of the packaging to ignite, as the flame burns out and travels down the stick, it ignites the incense which will burn for 10 minutes. A fire-proof mat is also included. The Ylang Ylang is a favourite of ours, and a spare pack sits in the smallest pocket of the suitcase at all times.
